Hi Barbara,

My name is Taylor Patskanick and I am a researcher at the MIT AgeLab. I had the CT CASL email on an old outreach list of ours and in the process of my re-organization of it wanted to let you know about a great summit and scholarship program we have at the lab - OMEGA. OMEGA seeks to connect high school students in New England with older adults in their communities.

Though it is a bit close to the deadline, I wanted to take the time to share that our 2018-2019 OMEGA scholarship application is live. It may be a fit for the many high school students your membership works with, particularly those who are volunteering with older adults in some capacity and/or looking to finance college education. It’s also potential newsletter fodder, etc. for your networks.

Just a bit about the program:

The MIT AgeLab and AARP are collecting applications from high school juniors and seniors in New England in order to award three college scholarships. The awards are available to recognize and reward the efforts that young adults are making to create multigenerational connections in their communities. Each OMEGA scholarship will award a $1000 college scholarship to the winning student and $1000 to the winning student's community partner or high school club/organization to support its activities to build relationships between teens and older adults. The application is open now through March 31, 2019

Students can access application materials here: http://agelab.mit.edu/about-omega-scholarships and can email omegamit@mit.edu with any questions. I’ve attached a flyer to this email as well.

I appreciate you taking the time out!

Thanks,

Taylor
