I have had Paul Volponi https://www.amazon.com/Paul-Volponi/e/B001ITXEVY/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1. He is able to negotiate his price because he would rather stay local. He lives in New York.

Matthew Dicks is also local. He wrote Memoir of an Imaginary Friend and he also did a storytelling section.

Carrie Firestone is from Avon and very reasonably priced and entertaining.

These all have been well received by our students. We had Chris Crutcher last fall. His price as reasonable because he was on the East coast for a conference presentation. You could try him.

I have also had authors through RJ Julia who have been great, but they don't know when the authors are coming so it is hard to plan.
