We do not collect any Chromebooks over the summer.  Students can keep them in their possession and are responsible for them (damages, breakage).  If there is a problem that needs to be addressed, then they need to drop it off over the summer to our IT department that will fix / repair the problem.  **We do offer a repair Insurance plan to our students yearly  (all issues fixed, $30 per year for the plan July 1- June 30, covers 2 repairs....anything beyond 2 repairs is charged to student).

Our seniors get to keep the Chromebooks when they graduate.   Their "school G Suite" account becomes deactivated as of graduation.

I hope that helps.

Hi,

I'm thinking ahead to the end of the year, and I'm wondering how other districts handle collecting Chromebooks.  It's my first time doing this, but I've heard in the past they've tried two ways:
- collecting them and wiping them clean, then distributing new ones to students in the fall
- collecting them and passing out the same ones to students the following year

Any suggestions?  My goal is to let them have the Chromebooks as long as possible because of finals, but make distribution as quick and painless as possible in the fall (plus, I don't really want to spend my summer cleaning and resetting Chromebooks.) . Any suggestions you have for distribution would also be appreciated.

Have a great day!
Tenley
