This is the fifth request for feedback from the ALA Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC) after the Midwinter Meeting. In anticipation of a new edition of the Intellectual Freedom Manual, the IFC is continuing to update intellectual freedom-related documents.

The IFC would appreciate feedback on four interpretation drafts by Monday, June 3:  

• “User-Initiated Exhibits, Displays, and Bulletin Boards”
• Previously titled “Exhibit Spaces and Bulletin Boards”
• Adopted in 1991; amended in 2004 and 2014.
• “Library-Initiated Programs and Displays as a Resource”
• Previously titled: “Library-Initiated Programs as a Resource”
• Adopted in 1982; amended in 1990, 2000, and 2018.
• “Diverse Collections”
• Previously titled: “Diversity in Collection Development”
• Adopted in 1982; amended in 1990, 2008, and 2014.
• “Access to Digital Resources and Services”
• Previously titled: “Access to Digital Information, Services, and Networks”
• Adopted in 1996; amended 2005 and 2009. References to cited policies updated in 2018.

Please feel free to share this message widely. Feedback can be posted in the following two ways:

·  Post feedback on the Google Docs, linked below. The IFC requests that you post comments on the documents, rather than edit the documents directly. To post a comment, select "Insert" in the top menu, and then click "Comment." Comments may be posted anonymously (if you're not signed into a Google account) or publicly (if you're signed into your Google account).

·  Using "track changes," add comments and edits to the attached Word drafts. You can email them to me (glynnj@kenyon.edu) or post them as a comment to this ALA Connect post, and I'll forward them to working group members.

The Intellectual Freedom Committee will make revisions to the drafts in light of your suggestions and plans to distribute the documents to ALA Council prior to ALA Annual Conference in Washington DC. The committee also plans to present them at ALA Council Forum for further feedback.
