Subject: CEN Quarterly Workshop - Addressing Digital Accessibility in Schools, Libraries, and Municipalities

June 6th at a location near you!

Dear Valued Members,

There’s still time left to sign up for CEN's third quarterly training workshop next week! The workshop will be held Thursday, June 6th, 10 am - 12 noon, at a number of locations around the state. Register today!

Accessibility is an important topic for everyone. Schools, libraries, and municipalities, and more are addressing the needs of accessibility but sometimes in different ways. With the advent of global accessibility standards and the push for uniformity in online accessibility, UConn is in the process of developing its own standards for universal digital accessibility. Many do not realize that online accessibility goes beyond the classroom to encompass all digital material.

This presentation will offer an overview of global standards, the broad and narrow applications of digital accessibility, technology used to address accessibility and accommodations, training and resources available for faculty, staff and students, and guidance on how to draft a plan for universal institutional accessibility.

Presenters

Karen Skudlarek, Educational Technologist, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), UCONN
