Media & News Literacy Fair, October 16, Farmington Library

Media & News Literacy are important critical thinking skills for educated voters. How do you help your patrons identify truthfulness in everyday news stories, especially on social media?

Join us at the Media & News Literacy Fair at Farmington Library on October 16, 9:00 am-1:00 pm, to learn how!

Presentations will provide context about what Media Literacy and News Literacy are, as well as practical tips and techniques for teaching these literacies to library patrons and students. In one session, a moderated panel of journalists will address topics of accuracy and fairness in journalism, the reputation and trustworthiness of professional media, and the relationship between libraries and media.

Speakers include Connecticut's own Michelle Luhtala and Katherine Trouern-Trend as well as Rachel Gans-Boriskin and Laura Saunders from Simmons University. The journalist panel will feature Hugo Balta, Molly Yanity, and Lynne DeLucia.
