Here is information we received from a Newsela representative a few weeks ago regarding pricing:
Here are the licensing options we discussed:
·
Teacher licenses (limited data visibility; cannot add SEL or content streams): $750-$1,000 (with Power Words)
·
School Site License (all teachers, all students): $1,000; Power Words are $350; SEL Collections are $350; MS Social Studies Collections are $600
o
CES affiliation entitles your school to 20% OFF school licensing and any additional collections (not applicable for individual teacher license)
o
Purchase two or more collections and we are happy to offer an additional 10% discount on each collection
The difference between the two licensing options:
Teacher licenses are limited to individual teacher's classes and cannot be shared across classrooms. There is no school or district binder access, which means administrators
do not have visibility into how their students are doing on the formative quizzes nor how the teachers are engaging with the platform. Teachers are not able to see how their shared students are doing across classes. There is no on-boarding or implementation
support with teacher licenses, only for site-wide licenses. There is no ability to add Premium Collections to Teacher Licenses.
As mentioned, our free product has changed significantly over the summer and this is why you don’t have access to all the free content that you had in the past.

Subject: [CASL-L] NewsELA cost? Does anyone have an idea?
Hello,
Can anyone please help answer this question? It seems to be coming up often with my faculty and I was wondering if anyone has any idea? Thanks in advance.
"Both Social Studies and ELA seem to use NewsEla quite frequently. It seems as if their policies have changed and we don't get as much for free anymore.
I signed up for the 30 day free trial of NewsEla PRO, but it's almost up. Do you have any information about cost of a single subscription or school/district subscription to the PRO part? It doesn't seem available on the website - I have to fill out a form
for a rep to contact me and I'd rather not do that."
Respectfully,
