Love this and you! My 5th graders were tik tokking all morning! We did talk alot about social media age restrictions and why they exist but yes many of them have accounts and have even helped younger siblings set them up. I really appreciate your feedback on this!_______________________________________________On Tue, Feb 18, 2020 at 3:10 PM Barbara Johnson <bajohnson@colchesterct.org> wrote:Wondering why your students are dancing in their chairs while you teach? I have to let you know; they are not dancing because they are excited to learn…they are practicing their moves to post online in a platform called TikTok.
Completely puzzled? Common Sense Media can fill in the gaps and help you be in the “Know” https://www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/parents-ultimate-guide-to-tiktok
In an informal poll of Jackter students ALL grade levels are creating, posting, and searching content on this app, most with permission but without being monitored after that.
Please take a minute to read up on this trend, the app is BLOCKED at school but the practicing for their next post is taking place while you teach!

Hello Jessica,We have viewmasters purchased with technology funds in our district. Expeditions lend nicely to curriculum, but we are having issues with running the teacher lead ones. Only the student directed options are working. Sometimes wifi is an issue on the ipods when using them.Respectfully,Loretta SullivanLibrary Media SpecialistBennet AcademyManchester, CT"I have always imagined that paradise will be a kind of library."- Jorge Luis Borges_______________________________________________On Tue, Feb 25, 2020 at 10:52 AM Jessica Jusseaume <jusseaumej@fpsct.org> wrote:Hello All - My department head and I are working on a grant to help us integrate AR and VR experiences in our district. We are considering usage in elementary, middle, and high school. Currently, we are looking for information on how other districts use AR/VR. If you have any experience with this, would you please reply with any of the following types of information:
- Grade levels you have implemented AR/VR with
- Types/examples of projects
- Are your students mostly consuming AR/VR or creating with it?
- Have you been able to easily find/make curriculum connections?
- Have you found enough existing resources to make use of AR/VR easy and meaningful for teachers and students?
- What technology did you purchase and how did you acquire it (grants for example)?
- Have you been able to use the technology to support SEL and/or diversity education?
- Were there any major concerns from teachers (time, # of students, implementation, etc.?)
- Have you received any feedback from stakeholders on the use of this type of technology (positive or negative)?
- Any other pros/cons?
Thank you very much. It is so helpful to have this community to learn from.Jessica--Jessica J. Encore Data Products has some nice ones that are practically indestructible. Check out their website: https://www.encoredataproducts.com/
I am in a K-4 school and have Dell laptops in the library. Students use them for research (and the read aloud to you feature is helpful but noisy) and coding. I'd like to buy a set of quality headphones and am seeking recommendations. These will be re-used constantly, so I don't want earbuds. I have some now that are small, with little foam pads on the ears, which slip off or tear, and the skinny wires break. Plus they are a pain to wrap up and store at the end of a class._______________________________________________Thank youElaine ShapiroBroad Brook School
