Good afternoon,

I have seen a lot of requests for software via e-mail and through the Hub. (I am talking with Zoom tomorrow morning.) Given that we can now fast-track compliance by having vendors sign the Pledge, I also encourage you to e-mail them directly, if you have a contact. See the same template language below to help with this outreach (also posted to our updated Student Data Privacy and Remote Learning pages):

Dear [PROVIDER NAME],

In light of the Coronavirus outbreak and shift to remote learning, Connecticut has recently made it easier for companies like [NAME] to comply with our state privacy laws and make it easier for teachers to use [PRODUCT NAME(S)]. Now, rather than executing individual (district-level) contracts, you can digitally sign the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Pledge and provide evidence that your terms comply with our law.

Teachers in [DISTRICT] would like to start using [PRODUCT] today, so I encourage you to sign the Pledge. To learn more and take the next steps, please see the following resources from the Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology:

If you have any questions about the process, email doug.casey@ct.gov.

Regards,

[YOUR NAME]
