We are experiencing the same. We are screencasting lessons so that students can access at their own pace. We are also trying to be empathetic and allow students extra time to complete assignments as needed. I have been screencasting book chapters to help support ELA teachers.

Be well everyone!

Hello everyone,

I hope all is well.  I am not sure if your school community is experiencing the same thing, but we have many students not getting up in the morning to join virtual morning meetings with their teachers.  Apparently, for some parents, they are losing the battle to get them up early enough to start their "new" school day/routines.

So my question is what ideas or strategies have been implemented to help students get motivated to get up in the morning to participate in their online learning?  We are trying to brainstorm ideas.  I suggested some type of motivating reward or competition for most students that have joined morning meeting each day with their teachers.  We also thought of making sure teachers have set expectations and set routines/schedules as they would in the classroom and have students sign using Google drawings.  We also thought to use Google forms for a weekly check in and question that would help students connect and share what they have been doing or what they enjoy doing in general.

We are looking for ways to help parents get their students on track and participate.  Any ideas are welcome and appreciated!  Thanks!

Respectfully,
