Observe #EarthDayAtHome
Fifty years ago, people around the world celebrated the first Earth Day. On Earth Day 2020, we can still collectively appreciate the beauty of our planet and the extraordinary science that helps us understand how it all works – and we can do it from our homes.
To get you started, we’re sharing activities, videos and special programs to help you observe β€œEarth Day at Home.” We encourage you to share photos and images on social media of how you commemorated the 50th anniversary, using the hashtag #EarthDayAtHome.
Terrestrial Tournament – There may not be much new on sports channels, but images of Earth are duking it out in Tournament-Earth. We’re asking you to vote on your favorite Earth images in elimination brackets that will reveal a winner on April 29.
Special Edition – NASA Science Live will air a previously recorded special edition featuring a discussion about Earth science with our Administrator Jim Bridenstine, in addition to features on how NASA technology is helping our planet. Watch the YouTube premiere at 3 p.m. EDT.
Bring the World to Your World – Decorate your space with our 2020 Earth Day poster – incorporating real science data to illustrate how our planet’s interconnected systems are its beating heart. Plus new posters from our Jet Propulsion Laboratory show what Earth will look like from space on Earth Day.
Get Social, From a Distance – With the hashtag #EarthDayAtHome we can connect on social media for Earth Day, and maybe even inspire and uplift each other for a while. Follow @NASAEarth on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook all day to catch the action.
