Kristine,

I'm not sure if you offer OverDrive at East Hartford, but if you do, OverDrive has Monster in "cost per checkout" (CPC) model for .99 per checkout... If not, maybe you can reach out to your public library to see if they can purchase it for your students or possibly the ResearchITCT can purchase it through RB Digital?

Hi everyone,

Looking for access to Monster by Walter Dean Myers (ebook or audiobook) for multi-use, if available.  If you can point me in the right direction, that would be great. RBDigital has it but single use.  Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this. The problem is that there are books whose content would be inappropriate for grades 4 and 5. I am not certain I can recommend or send students to a site with grades 6-8 selections.

How is everyone else in elementary school handling this?

Good morning!

The state library has purchased all available digital copies of  the new nominees for you and your students to access.

The 2020 nominees are currently right at the top of their page https://iconnct.rbdigital.com/ (this will likely be changed over to 2021 nominees May 1)

Your local library may have copies through Hoopla or Overdrive but that would vary town to town.

Hope that helps!

Hello all,

I know the voting period for the current Nutmeg nominees is coming to a close, but I have extended a challenge to my students to keep reading them through the end of the school year.  I'm wondering if anyone has specifically looked at where these titles are available for free right now?  I know the obvious place to start is the public library digital collection, and I will commence a search today (at a student's request), but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel if someone had already put this together.  Thanks so much, colleagues!

Apologies in advance for duplicate sends:

Good afternoon,

I know many districts are looking for compliant eBook platforms. RB Digital through the Connecticut State Library (CSL) has just signed the Pledge, so you can use that tool using the following instructions (thanks to Brad Bullis of the CSL):

Easy Access to RBDigital now available- No Library Card Required! Students and patrons can visit RBDigital and select  the register option on the right side of the page and follow these simple steps. Create a user name and password and use ctstatelib20 for the access code. Provide first name, last name, e-mail, and postal code.  Check the box to accept the terms of service and privacy policy and click on the register button. That’s all there is to it. They can now access the Connecticut State Library’s eAudio and eBook collection from RBDigital!

Here is a link to RBDigital guides and help. https://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/dld/researchIT_CT/about-researchIT_CT/helpebooks

Best,

Doug
