Thank you all for confirming my apprehension with breakout rooms.  I just needed that extra voice or two to recommend a stance on it.

Hi Jane,

Our special ed classroom teams use zoom breakout rooms for small groups; each group meets with an assigned special ed teacher or support staff.  I think that is the only safe way to do it!

Have a great week!

All,
I value your collective intellect and thoughtfulness.  I wonder how you feel about the breakout room option in Zoom.  While I think the feature is excellent, I’m just concerned at the elementary level. Since the teacher can pop in and out of these rooms, the students are unsupervised for some or much of the time which is my concern at this level.  Right now 5th grade only is using it and I wouldn’t recommend below that level but I have my concerns even for that age group.

Thoughts?
