I really want to switch some of our all class fiction texts to other great fiction that incorporates characters of color and cultural diversity. For example, we use Stone Fox as a mentor text to teach students about setting, characters, conflict, inference using support from the text. It is a great book but I feel like there are other books I could use instead.   I'm looking for a few suggestions of books at a beginning 4th grade level.
