Mark your calendar for this event.  It is always a fabulous event when in-person but this year it will be virtual so you might want to mark your calendar to pop in a session or two.

Also, for the past few years, I have flown down to DC on labor day weekend for the National Book Festival which is incredible.  But this year, it too will be virtual and it has been pushed back to Sept 25- 27.  Get on their mailing list: https://www.loc.gov/events/2020-national-book-festival

Dear Festival Friends,

Last week we announced that the Brooklyn Book Festival will be fully virtual for its 15th anniversary (due to a concern for the safety of our public and authors).

We will very much miss welcoming tens of thousands of book lovers to Downtown Brooklyn to celebrate authors, books and publishers. In the spirit of finding a silver lining (or several), we wanted to share with you good news about this year’s Festival. We also invite you to support the Festival, which is even more important to keep free for our audience in this challenging year.

Our announcement was festive and we were joined by novelists Andrés Neuman (attending from Granada, Spain), Tracy O’Neill, Donna Hill, Emma Straub, and Marie-Helene Bertino; children’s book authors Tami Charles and Kevin Noble Maillard, poet Diannely Antigua, and cookbook author Bill Buford. See the announcement here on IGTV or VIMEO

A fantastic list of authors will be part of the 2020 Festival with more to come.

Check out the full list here

With the virtual Festival, more authors can take part from across the country and globe including Australia, Cuba, Mozambique, South Africa, and Spain. Plus, as a booklover, wherever you may live, you will be able to tune in for the Festival’s unique conversations and discussions with hundreds of emerging and bestselling authors. That is a bright, silver lining!

We are thrilled that Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage will be our BoBi Honoree. Brooklyn born and raised, Lynn Nottage is the first woman to win two Pulitzer Prizes for Drama. Her plays include most recently Sweat, Floyd’s, By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, Ruined, Intimate Apparel, Fabulation, and more. She will be in a program at the Festival on October 4.

The Brooklyn Book Festival is known for diverse and inclusive programming, fostering unique dialogues among authors, presenting new literary voices as well as established authors, and crafting unique conversations and discussions.

Join us for the 2020 Virtual Brooklyn Book Festival as we celebrate our 15th anniversary of presenting free literary programming!
