Also, as you may know, the New York Times is offering free accounts to high school students and teachers through September 1, 2021. It's a great option if these permissions are okay for your school. This gives full website access, and they can also install the App with their free account. You would create an admin account and then upload the email addresses. The NYTimes then sends out an invitation to those emails to create an account.

People can use either a school email or a personal email (as long as it is uploaded by you), one that is not already tied to a NYTimes account in some way. I had people sign up via Google Form, and then it was an easy cut-and-paste to upload the emails in bulk.

Both of those newspapers are available through the state databases..  The newspapers can be accessed from Research IT CT. At school, the students can connect via IP address. At home they need the barcode from their public library card.

Subject: [CASL-L] Post and NY Times digital access

?Hi Everyone,

I had some teachers ask for digital access to the Washington Post and NY Times for their students. I just got off the phone with the Washington Post and it is $2,500 for digital access, which is not feasible for us.

Does anyone have any ideas how to best go about this in a cost effective way? NY times has yet to get back to me.

I appreciate the help!

-Kara
