Good morning,
I have just received all of the approvals needed to move forward with the research project on makerspaces in school libraries in Connecticut that I emailed you about earlier in the fall. I have a cover letter with the link to the survey to share with your organization. I have attached it to this email. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further information before sending it to the CASL members. Thank you again for your willingness to share this survey with your members.

Best,

The listserv has about 200 active members

Thank you so much! I need to get the permission through the college and the body that governs human research (called IRB) and then I will be back in touch with the survey if that works.

How would the survey go out to the members? My professor wants me to estimate how many people will receive the survey in my application for the IRB permission.

Thanks again for your time. I really do appreciate it.
Best,

Of course, just get me the link and make sure anyone can fill it out.

To Whom it May Concern,
Hello. I am a graduate student at Southern Connecticut State University in the MLIS program. I am currently in my last class and working on my special project. My plan is to survey Connecticut schools (K-12) regarding makerspace programs and if they exist within their school library program. My research questions are:

R1. How many elementary public schools provide makerspace for their students?

R2. For those schools that do have a makerspace, what staff, services and equipment do they have/provide?

R3. How do students access the makerspace?

I have created a Google Form survey and I am hoping to send it to librarians in CT schools. Would it be possible to use the CASL listserv as a method to contact potential participants? (I will be, of course, following all guidlelines for ethical research and informed consent by applying for an IRB and following all procedures in those regards.)

Thank you for your consideration and time.

Best,

Jennifer Segalla
