Hello Everyone,

Recent Google update has resulted in the following change to how tab sharing in the present mode functions. Previously teachers could select "share a tab" and then move across tabs and the sharing would continue. This is no longer working.

Since Google seems to respond to "fixes" based on the number of reports, this was suggested in the Community Forum:

"Open a Google Meet, click on the 3 vertical dots in the bottom right corner, click ‘Report a problem’. You can uncheck ‘Include screenshot’. I reported: Since updating Google Chrome to version 87, ‘Share this tab instead’ feature is closing presentation instead of switching between screens." - Credit to Leah Stovall"

In the interim, this is a workaround that I've shared with our teachers:

For now, to switch between tabs without the sharing being stopped, you can either choose to share the entire screen - an unpopular option among those I’ve spoken with, or you can share a window instead.

You can have one window open with the tabs for your classes and another with your email, PowerSchool and other private items you do not want students to see. When sharing the window, select the one specifically related to classes. Then you can move between these tabs and sharing will continue. To create a new window, click on the File menu and choose, New Window.

All this being said, if you have a video in a tab, the tab sharing feature is still the best method for showing the video to the class if you want to have it viewed by all the students at once.
