Hi Jodie,

We did major weeding for the past two years in our middle schools. We never had to assign any values. There was talk of selling some of it, but if that actually happened, the librarians were not involved. I also attended the weeding workshop at the state library. It was extremely helpful.

Does anyone's district have you assign a value to the materials you weed out?  If so, how do you calculate it?

*Materials I'm currently weeding are over 12 years old and have not been checked out at all in a 10 year period. Although the replacement cost is noted in Destiny, I'm unsure of assigning a value to these outdated/uncirculating books.

Thank you.

Good morning!

Looking for a few examples of current weeding policies from your districts, if you are willing to share.  Would like to update ours and would like to go over some examples for wording and see what other schools are doing in regards to removal of the books.

Thank you!
