Quickly Find New DEIA Resources, Activities, and More on the New STAR Net Website!

The STAR Library Network (STAR Net) recently launched a revamped version of our website that has been reorganized to make our content easier to explore and help library staff quickly find their desired resources in a timely manner.

Our new main navigation incorporates an expandable menu that accommodates a large number of options that will expedite your search, whether it be our latest/upcoming STEM Events, Professional Development opportunities, STEAM Resources, STEM Activity Clearinghouse activities or our newly created sections on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility and Making your Library's Case for STEM.

Join the Global Micro:bit Challenge!

Invite your patrons to join BBC micro:bit for an exciting digital challenge!

The do your :bit global challenge welcomes anyone ages 8-18 to use their creativity and micro:bit technology to come up with solutions to make the world a better place. Don’t have access to a micro:bit? Paper prototypes will be accepted for those ages 8-14!

Learn more about how to enter the challenge to win a prize. Submissions will be accepted from January 11 to June 4, 2021.

The STAR Library Network (STAR Net) is a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country. STAR Net focuses on helping library professionals build their STEM skills by providing “science-technology activities and resources” (STAR) and training to use those resources.

STAR Net is built upon a strong network of collaborators and partners, led by the Space Science Institute’s (SSI) National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL). Partners include the American Library Association’s Public Programs Office, Collaborative Summer Library Program, Chief Officers of State Library Agencies, Lunar and Planetary Institute, Education Development Center, Twin Cities PBS (TPT), Institute for Learning Innovation (ILI), University of Colorado, University of Virginia, Urban Libraries Council, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Cornerstones of Science. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation, NASA Science Mission Directorate, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
