Join Us For The Future Ready Librarians® Upcoming Webinar, News Literacy: Identifying Fact From Fiction

Posted: 12 Feb 2021 11:55 AM PST

I am excited to share the next Future Ready Librarian webinar, News Literacy: Identifying Fact from Fiction.  It is on February 23, 2021 at 4:00pm CST.

Teaching students about the difference between fact and fiction is more important than ever. As students continue to learn from home they have a wealth of information at their fingers tips. Future Ready Librarians®, instructional leaders, and all educators need to be intentional about teaching and modeling news literacy skills.

Our guests are expert librarians who are helping students identify fact from fiction. Tom Bober is author of Building News Literacy: Lessons for Teaching Critical Thinking Skills in Elementary and Middle Schools and Michelle Luhtala co-authored News Literacy: The Keys to Combating Fake News.

During the webinar, the guests will discuss how to recognize the difference between fact and fiction, identify reliable news sources, distinguish between news and audience bias, and teach skills to support analytical thinking.

Together as a network of Future Ready Librarians® and instructional learners, we make a difference for how our students discover, interact with, and learn from news media.

You will find the link to register here.  And don't worry, if you can't attend live, the webinar will be recorded and all resources will be shared afterwards.

We hope to see you there, friends.
