Norwalk High School was quite the opposite. The library is not opened to study hall students or to classes. My principal wanted to limit movement and gathering of students which would impact “effective” contact tracing. The library space is being used as a classroom in tbe upper library as we made every effort to space students/classes  out according to the guidelines. The lower library is used for students who might have come to school on the wrong day and lunchtime during inclement weather. A member of our maintenance staff is present and sits through all three lunch waves to clean. Students can individually come to the library to check out books. We have been like this since the start of school. About half of our students returned to school at the start of the year but progressively went remote. We may get 250 kids out of about 1600 a day. We are trying to entice students to return to school but I do not think it will happen until it is mandated.

We have been open since the start of our school year back in September!  No issues at all.  We had to reconfigure seating - but other than that, no changes.  Obviously we are seeing far fewer kids due to a large group choosing to stay 100% virtual.  Normally I would have 60-80 kids each period.  Now I'm lucky if I have 60 per day.  We are open for study halls, classes, and book browsing and check outs.  I even do curbside pickup and delivery if necessary for our virtual kids.
