Dear Ms. Johnson,

Good morning! My name is Jordan Mareno, and I am a partnerships manager at Project Invent. At Project Invent, we train high school educators and students to invent technologies that make their communities a better place.

Through the power of design thinking, and the magic of human-centered engineering, students in our program have created inventions like a wristband to help people with communication disorders communicate with law enforcement and a smart belt for blind users to avoid veering while walking.

We are a small organization, primarily based on the West Coast, but we are ready to deliver invention-based learning experiences to new students across the US during the '21-'22 school year.

Our program operates as a teaching fellowship, in which educators are trained in the invention process, and then share their learnings with their students throughout the school year. Our fellows come from all backgrounds (no engineering experience is required), and some of our best fellows are librarians!

This year, we are specifically looking for innovative librarians to apply to our fellowship by May 21. Would you be able to share the opportunity with your CASL network? We'd love to welcome new educators from Connecticut to our community!

If it's helpful, I am pasting in some easy-to-use language and a graphic below. But, of course, I am available to share more information and answer any questions you may have!

Any help is so appreciated! Very best,
Jordan

INNOVATIVE LIBRARIANS: APPLY TO PROJECT INVENT TODAY!

Project Invent is a national nonprofit organization that empowers high school students to design and invent technologies for social good. By developing design thinking, engineering, and entrepreneurship skills throughout the school year, Project Invent students create impactful inventions like a safety device for individuals with communication disorders, or a wearable anti-veering belt for the blind.

Project Invent students are inspired and supported by educators, who join Project Invent for a year-long fellowship experience. Project Invent fellows attend a week-long summer training in design thinking and invention, receive support throughout the year from expert advisors, and develop entrepreneurship skills as they prepare students to pitch to Silicon Valley investors.

Since 2018, Project Invent has worked with over 50 schools across the country, and applications to join their 2021-2022 fellowship are open now! If you are ready to inspire students through the invention process, submit your application by May 21st! No engineering experience is required!

Note: the Project Invent program is free for educators in Title I schools, and low cost for all other educators.
