"Librarians from across the state of Connecticut are collaborating on a new podcast about the 2022 Nutmeg Book Award nominees. Librarians ConneCT has created Nutmeg Book Drops, a podcast that includes a casual discussion of the nominees, interviews with authors, and more. The podcast is geared toward readers, teachers, and anyone interested in connecting children and teens with books. Episodes will be published beginning June 15. Listeners can find the podcast on Spotify or wherever they find their favorite podcasts. A full schedule of release dates and more information can be found at bit.ly/librariansconnect.
Like the Nutmeg awards, the podcast will feature the four different levels of books ranging from Elementary to High School. With a variety of genres and topics, there’s a book included for every reader! Each episode will include a discussion of 2-3 books and many include interviews with authors, including Stuart Gibbs, Ruta Sepetys and Ellen Potter.
The podcast was the idea of Christina Carpino, the Children’s and Teen Services Librarian for the Essex Library Association. “I’ve had a strong affinity for the Nutmeg Award lists since I was a young reader. When brainstorming virtual programming for the summer, I thought a podcast would be a great screen-free alternative for the readers in Connecticut. This project has grown to include so many awesome public and school librarians, as well as authors, and I can’t wait to share it with our readers!”
