We use Keyboarding without Tears, but now it's up to the teachers and I doubt they have much time for it.  I used to take every class to the computer lab once a month (all the time I had) and did KWT then.  In theory it's a good program, but there is no way to enforce proper finger position.  I spent a lot of time re-directing and arguing with students about that.  They would do it correctly while I watched and then revert back to the one finger method as soon as I walked away.  Good luck!

Hello All - We are researching a new typing program for our K-6 students. We have previously used Typing Agent and Typing Training. We would love to hear your recommendations and experiences with other programs. We are a 1:1 district and we're looking for something that:
  • is engaging for students
  • is accessible for all learners
  • is easy for teachers to implement
  • has easily accessible data for WPM and accuracy
  • has built-in assessments (not a requirement, but would be wonderful)
  • integrates with Classlink/is Google SSO (ideally)
  • has structured lessons/curriculum (ideally)
We'd also be interested in your district's standards for WPM and accuracy and would like to know who implements typing instruction in your school - classroom teachers, LMS, tech teacher, etc.

We are looking into Typing Club and EduTyping based on recommendations from Common Sense Education, as well as Keyboarding Without Tears, so if you also have feedback on those, that would be great.

Thank you!
