We purchased Swank video streaming for movies. Really the only way not to break copyright whether you purchased or not. Purchased videos are meant for personal use only. Swank is not expensive.

I teach at a K-2 school, but my SLO could work well for you. I'm focusing on understanding various genres with second graders. I'll be doing a pre- and post-assessment. Perhaps you want to challenge your students to read across a number of genres and record their titles/genres in a Google Form? Just the beginning of a thought.

Hello-
Is anyone creating SLOs that have to do with reading and book circulation? If so, how are you setting it up and measuring it? My principal told me he wanted me to focus on getting kids reading and getting books to them this year. I'm trying to figure out how I can turn it into my SLOs.

Thank you so much!
Kim

This website is a few years old now but I can still update it if anyone would like to submit new SLOs. Here is an archive of goals others have done: Planting the SEED

If you would like to submit your SLO for inclusion here, there is a form on the "Submit Your SLOs" page.

Subject: [CASL-L] video streaming at school
I have not found any legal/ethical way to purchase movies for teachers other than DVDs. No streaming options seem viable. But here's an option I hadn't considered before.

We just bought a DVD for our teachers. The DVD came with a digital movie code. The code would allow us to stream the movie through Movies Anywhere. An overview of what Movies Anywhere is can be found HERE.

If I made a Movies Anywhere account then teachers would need to use a username and password to access that service. It should allow them to stream the video and limit how many people are watching it at once (we only bought one copy of the movie so only one teacher should be able to view the movie at a time).

Is there a flaw here I'm not thinking of. I'm reading through the TOS but I feel like I'm meeting copyright guidelines. Face-to-face instruction. We purchased the movie. One viewer at a time.

Any thoughts on this? Am I missing something?
