Hi Christina,

Our high school LLC budget included SWANK movie streaming this past year for the first time.  We found it to be very helpful to support learning both in and outside of school.  As always, you should poll your school staff to see if they are using it.  I know SWANK does not currently have usage numbers for subscribers.

Secondly, our district also has a licence for teachers to show movies on DVD so that they are not violating copyright.  This is an annual licence.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Ken

Hello Librarians!
My district currently has a Swank license that expires in August and they are considering dropping it.
Is this used only for entertainment?
Is it necessary to have the license if a teacher is showing a FULL length movie as part of a lesson/curriculum?
Is it necessary to have the license if a teacher is only showing a clip from a movie?

Thank you!
