Hello!

I wanted to forward this information about an upcoming librarian conference this summer. It sounds like a unique opportunity to be with librarians from all over the world.

Hope to see a CT contingency in July!

Dear AASL Chapter Leaders and Board Members,

The 2022 International Association of School Librarianship Hybrid Conference will be hosted by the University of South Carolina this coming summer in Columbia, SC. The IASL conference rotates around the globe and so its presence in the United States will not occur again for a good while. This is an incredible opportunity for school librarians to share their work on a global stage. Virtual presentation options are available as well as face to face. The call for proposals is currently open and all AASL member orgs and affiliates are encouraged to participate. I have posted the call under my signature below, and also attached it as a word document to make sharing as easy as possible. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have regarding the IASL 2022 Conference and Research Forum. I look forward to hopefully seeing many of you in South Carolina this summer!

Sincerely,

__

2022 Hybrid Conference and Research Forum

The International Association for School Librarianship, the University of South Carolina School of Information, the South Carolina Association of School Librarians, and the South Carolina Center for Community Literacy invite you to the 50th Annual IASL Hybrid Conference and the 25th International Forum on Research in School Librarianship, an event dedicated to the advancement of theory and practice in school librarianship. Each year, the IASL conference has an overarching theme connecting keynote speeches, discussions, presentations, workshops, Special Interest Group meetings, and poster presentations. This year, the theme is “School Librarianship and the Evolving Global Information Landscape” divided into three strands: a) Building community relationships; b) Diversity, equity, and inclusion; and c) Misinformation, disinformation, and social media. Featured keynote speakers are Dr. Tutaleni I. Asino, the 2022 Dr. Jean E. Lowrie Global Keynoter, Dr. Mega Subramaniam, Dr. Nicole A. Cooke, the Augusta Baker Endowed Chair, and prolific author and school library educator, Kristin Fontichiaro.
