Good morning,

I'm glad that many librarians have been checking their circulation statistics because it prompted me to do the same. Our middle school has been teaching the reader's workshop model for years and that has contributed to high circulation stats. This year, teachers have been telling their students that any reading in any format is a great thing (lots more approval for graphic novels). Our iReady scores have also gone up drastically which is fantastic news. The print circulation includes nonfiction, biography, playaways and books on CD, fiction, and graphic novels. Last year about 30% of our students stayed remote the whole year on average. It was interesting to me to see that our Sora ebooks and audiobook checkouts increased by 849 checkouts from last year. Sora checkouts Aug. 2020- Feb. 2021 2,567 checkouts. Sora checkouts Aug. 2021- Feb. 2022 3,416. The Sora usage shows that students are mostly accessing the books during school hours so that shows that teachers are promoting it more. Sora stats are not included below.

Sage Park Middle School has 732 students.

Print circulation for Aug. 2018- Feb. 2019
6,611 books

Print circulation for Aug. 2020- Feb. 2021
617 books

Print circulation for Aug. 2021- Feb. 2022
6,118 books

Hi Matt,
Our circulation count for this school year is 2,639.  Our student population is about 550.  We are very fortunate to have many teachers who expect students to read a book, whether it's for class or for pleasure, so they bring their classes in periodically.  We also have a WIN period (like a study hall), so our readers get to come to the library most days to browse.
Best,
Cheryl

My superintendent just asked for library circulation numbers.

Does anyone else have these on hand for their school?

Waterford has about 800+/- students.

Just wanted some way to compare in case I’m asked.
