Good morning all,

New England never fails to disappoint with its ever-changing weather.  We had warm weather recently.  With snow today, recapture the springtime feeling by borrowing spring-themed books to circulate to your library patrons.  It’s easier than spring cleaning, and a whole lot more fun!  These books will check out to your library for 3 months and will arrive in deliverIT unless you prefer to schedule a curbside appointment.

Get in the springtime mood with fresh children’s books!  You can borrow up to 5 Easter books, 5 Passover books, 10 spring books, and 20 garden themed books.   Prefer to browse and request your own?  Visit our catalog to explore.

Even if you’re doing virtual story time, don’t forget about puppets—a variety of wildlife puppets that fit a spring or summer theme.

Hand puppets: ant, baby robin with worm, bat, bear, bobcat, caterpillar, caterpillar/butterfly, chipmunk, duckling, eagle, fawn, firefly, fox, frog, hedgehog, ladybug, mosquito, opossum, opossum with baby, snowy owl, barn owl, parrot, porcupine, praying mantis, rabbit, raccoon, snail, snake, spider, tadpole/frog, toad, turkey, and turtle.

Finger puppets: beaver, bee, butterfly, chipmunk, duckling finger puppet set, fairy finger puppets (all look springlike: flower fairy, rose fairy, spring fairy, snow fairy, sugar plum fairy, summer fairy, and tooth fairy), mermaid, opossum, rainforest frog finger puppet set, snail, spider, and Franklin the turtle.

Ask about our giant teddy bear—he’s 5 feet tall, but does best sitting down.  He has spring fever and wants to get out and make new friends.  He can’t be sent in deliverIT CT because he’s too large, (see below), but you can pick him up at the Middletown Library Service Center by scheduling a curbside appointment.

You can also borrow 5 spring-themed adult large print books to circulate to your library patrons.  Email me off list, please, to request: grace.burchard@ct.gov   If you’d like some non-seasonal large print (instead or in addition to the spring books), I can either select a variety of books, or pick from specific genres: general fiction, western, romance, or mystery.  Let me know how many non-spring books you would like to receive: 10, 25, 50, 100, or any other number that works for your library.  Or, browse our catalog and choose your own.
