Hi All,
I wanted to share two amazing author visits we had at my school this year. These women are engaging, relatable speakers and the feedback was incredibly positive from students and staff. In addition, I read their books and enjoyed them thoroughly.
Rebecca Frankel- Former Hall grade ('97) and author of the New York Times best-selling book
War Dogs: Tales of Canine Heroism, History, and Love, and
Into the Forest: A Holocaust Story of Survival, Triumph, and Love which was named one of "The Ten Best History Books of 2021" by Smithsonian magazine, and a 2021 National Jewish Book Award finalist. Here's my
page with more details about her and a brief video intro she made for our students. Here are
pics and student quotes from the visit.
Crystal Maldonado- Crystal was born and raised in CT and graduated from UConn. She discussed her debut young adult novel, Fat Chance, Charlie Vega (Cosmopolitan Best New Book and a POPSUGAR Best New YA Novel), and her second novel, No Filter and Other Lies. She was also recently voted one of CT Magazine's 40 Under 40 Class of 2022. Here's my page with more details about her and a brief video intro. Here are pics and student quotes from the visit.
Happy to answer additional questions.
Best,
Monica
