I attended an informational meeting with reps from ABDO today that was offered by CLC and wanted to share the info I collected (especially the turnaround time on orders) because the topic of vendors, ordering challenges and options has come up a couple of times on the listserv:
- CLC members receive a discount on ABDO orders (reach out to let them know you are a CLC member if/when you order).
- If you spend $1000, your library will receive 25 free titles of your choosing. A $2000 order comes with 50 free titles, $3000, 75.
- The CLC discount & free book offer combined brings the average price per book to $12.89 (According to ABDO, the primary-level industry average is currently over $22-23/book)
- The turnaround time for ABDO book orders is 14 days. The orders they are currently receiving are shipping out the same day.
- Cataloging and processing is free
- Jennifer Roberts ABDO's sales consultant wants to help simplify the ordering process
- ABDO has 500 new titles coming out in the fall. The company's focus remains on "good content" & "high interest" titles (examples given: Netflix shows, Stranger Things series) and they are not shying away from timely topics. They offer graphic novels and all their ebooks are all multi-use.
