Windham Middle School LTS Library Media Specialist

Position:The Library Media Specialist (Teacher-Librarian) has a number of different roles associated with their position. At its core the candidate should expect the following in a normal day:

-Teaching 2-3 classes a day with library curriculum instruction infused.

-Running the library program: checking books and other materials in and out to students and staff. Knowledgeable in middle grade/YA books for readers advisory.

-Collaborating with teachers for instruction as well as scheduling times for students to come down to the library.

-Working closely with the building IT department.

-Monitoring a request-a-book form and delivering books requested by students.

-Creating engaging and pertinent displays, bulletin boards, and book talks to encourage a love of reading.

-Helping with technology issues when needed. Maintaining the schools chromebook collection. We are a 1-1 school.

-Maintaining the library as a safe space for all.

-Implementing engaging activities (i.e. student book reviews, book talks, simple crafts.)

 

Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of Destiny Library System, Google Suite and other software programs integral to the position.

Ability to catalog and process new books (or willingness to learn.)

Candidates who are in the process of attaining their Library Media Specialist (062) certification are encouraged to apply!
