CASEL Framework
“RESPONSIBLE DECISION-MAKING: The ability to make caring and constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions across diverse situations. This includes the capacity to consider ethical standards and safety concerns, and to evaluate the benefits and consequences of various actions for personal, social, and collective well-being.”
SLO Sedgwick students participate in Inquiry Projects throughout the year which includes a collaboration between the classroom teacher and the library media specialists. This year, in addition to information literacy skills, I will be working with students on developing the CASEL SEL skills of demonstrating curiosity and open-mindedness. I will teach strategies for wondering, questioning, and finding sources and information to satisfy their academic and personal curiosity. I will also teach students how to practice open-mindedness by having them explore their topics from multiple perspectives.
