Hello Amy and everyone,

I just heard from a teacher today when I reached out about SLOs.  I am wondering if you can use this idea to tie in SEL related topics/books to various cultures.  We are grades 5 and 6.  All additional ideas regarding what this could look like are welcomed!  I am looking for input anyone would have, especially in terms of how our role as LMSs can enrich this idea/SLO in terms of lessons/activities, etc.  I may be centering my SLOs around this idea she presented:

"I'm looking to build family engagement within my cohort of classes. I believe that doing so strengthens the learning experience of kids when families are visible members of our teaching and learning. My focus will be literacy. I would like to host two families each month to come in and do a read aloud  - a book that speaks to their culture, family history, values, etc. I would purchase these books for the family and have them on display in class for students to read throughout the year.
At the close of the year, I would host a literacy celebration of all families who have joined us as guest readers throughout the year. "

Respectfully,

I'm interested in ANY ideas for an SLO this year, SEL or otherwise. My admin meeting is next week and I have nothing so far. Being the only LMS in the school makes it a tough time to collaborate with peers. Last year I did a bulletin board and book display to highlight all of the different monthly celebrations (Hispanic Heritage, Black History Month, etc.), but I would like to try something else this year.

Hi Allie,

I'm having the same problem. I'm meeting with my evaluator this morning who assures me that we will work on it together. When I have something to share, I will pass it along. I know that Groton has created our own docs, but they shouldn't be that different. My SLO will be for HS level this year.
