The Connecticut State Library is once again supporting Connecticut Saves, an annual campaign that
serves to motivate individuals and families to take better control of their finances and achieve financial stability. As part of the national America Saves Week (February
27-March 3), we are joining more than 3,000 entities, including financial institutions, government agencies, local government, and other nonprofit organizations in the call to action for
everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully.
Locally, the Connecticut State Library will join Better Business Bureau, Chelsea Groton Bank, the Connecticut Association for Human Services, the Connecticut Department of Banking, and the
University of Connecticut for the CT Saves campaign coordinated by the UConn Extension Financial Education Program. It will also take part in an educational meet and greet with young adults at Hartford Job Corps March 1st where they’ll challenge
students to do a “gut-check” on their finances and saving behaviors, and share information on creating a savings plan and setting financial goals.
Throughout the week, participants will offer up savings tips on social media (#CTSaves) and encourage everyone to take the
CT Saves Pledge by texting
CTSaves to the number 70878. There is also a CT Saves pledge in
Spanish. We encourage you to share the social media posts with your followers. Today’s theme is
Saving Automatically.
The CT Saves pledge is a self-pledge that is shown to more likely be accomplished because you are “writing it down” and not just saying you are going to save. Let’s have a great showing for
CT! If you live out of state you can see if your state has a local campaign to make the pledge with, or take the pledge on the America Saves site.
Happy Savings!
