Katie,

Brian's suggestion of For the Record looks like a more accurate fit since you requested court proceedings; however, I'd like to suggest 365 Days to Alaska which is also MG and about divorce. Here's a blurb I wrote for a program in my school:
"Family, friends, and a crow all figure into this story about 6th grader Rigel who has recently been relocated from off the grid in Alaska to the suburbs of Connecticut after her parents' divorce. Talk about feeling out of place. She is counting down the days (365 to be exact) until she can get back to Alaska with her dad."

Another good place to search for specific types of books is A Novel Mind (If you aren't familiar with how to search their database, watch the video.) You can filter for divorce and middle grade to see their suggestions, for example.

For the Record by Monique Polak - I have not read it myself, but based on the SLJ description in the following article, it sounds like this one deals a lot with the court and/or legal part of divorce. https://www.slj.com/story/three-middle-grade-titles-featuring-divorced-and-separated-parents

Subject: [CASL-L] Middle Grade Book about Divorce
Hi there,

I have a fifth grade teacher looking for the following:

“I have a student whose parents are going through a nasty divorce that may lead to her getting pulled in for questioning by the court.  Mom is really worried about this damaging the child.

Do you happen to know of any books about divorce where there happens to the main character involved in a similar situation? I was thinking if the child could read the book, make some connections with the character, and see that everything turned out ok for the character, it may alleviate some of the stress.“

I can think of a number of books that deal with divorce, but not this particular being called into court scenario. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Apologies if I missed it, but does anyone have a rating sheet that you use with students for the Nutmeg Award? It doesn't have to have the books on it, but some criteria. Looking for elementary students.

Thanks,
Sharon

Subject: [CASL-L] Free tables and chairs- you pick up
Hi,

We have 7 of the tables pictured and 14 of the chairs. They were used in an elementary computer lab.

Down the road we may have an additional 6 tables and 12 chairs. We are converting our computer lab into a MakerSpace.

Items would need to be picked up.
E-mail me sharonrodko@westonps.org if you are interested or need more info.

Hoping they can go to a new home,
Sharon
