We are thrilled to announce the official book selection of Jumpstart’s 18th Annual Read for the Record: With Lots of Love, written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by André Ceolin! 

With Lots of Love is a beautiful story about family and the ways in which we stay connected across long distances to those we love. The book is about a young girl, Rocio, who moves with her family to the United States from Central America, far away from everything she leaves behind and longs for - especially her Abuela. There are many things Rocio misses from her old life - Abuela’s cooking, her warm hugs, and of course, Abuela most of all. But Abuela finds a way to send Rocio something special just in time for her birthday - a gift wrapped with lots of love - and that fills Rocio to the brim.

The book uplifts the special place that grandparents can hold within families, and celebrates the power of food, home language, and traditional decorations in keeping people connected. 

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record will be held on October 26, 2023, and millions of people around the world will participate in this celebration of early literacy through shared reading. The book will be available in English and Spanish, and the celebration will include readings, events, and activity guides.

• Purchasing books for your organization, school, district, or library: A cornerstone of our campaign is increasing access to high-quality picture books, so we are excited to offer this year’s book at reduced prices with “classroom cases” of 25 for $175 - a savings of 36% per book!  
• Purchasing books for your family or a young person in your life: Individual books are $11 each. 
• Donating books or cases of books to a Jumpstart classroom or community partner.
