I had to write a whole narrative report reflecting on the standard - so it’s definitely not checking a box. Maybe it has changed slightly? But we just went through this process. Of course the school can write whatever it wants and it would be up to the visiting team to determine accuracy. I am pleased to say that many chairs now look for support staff/librarians to be part of those visiting teams - at least in my experience as I’ve been asked to serve on quite a few in the past two years.

Not certified librarian, and that the person filling out the form can check a box confirming they have adequate personnel...
I actually met with someone in NEASC to discuss the terms used and requested it be changed
He told me that many times a visiting team may not even set foot in the LMC...I also asked how to change that!

Obviously the visiting team must address the standard, what's written in the narrative report, and then observe/interview to determine if what the NEASC team has written is accurate and if they've scored themselves accurately.  The visiting team then has to make recommendations or determine if this area is an identified area for improvement.  It is then up to the school/school board/admin to address these issues before the accreditation visit.
