Building Relationships with Your Learning Community

Are you a school librarian looking for ways to connect with your students, teachers, and administrators? Do you want to learn more about how to uphold intellectual freedom in your school library? If so, you won't want to miss CLC's Professional Development Day for School Librarians

This full-day event will feature speakers and discussions that will help you build relationships with your learning community and advocate for your library's role in supporting learning and inquiry.

Speakers include:

First Amendment Court Cases that Affirm Intellectual Freedom in School Libraries

Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director, American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom

The Importance of Strong Policies and Communication with Your School Administrators

Pat Scales, Retired School Librarian, Author, Former Chair of ALA's Intellectual Freedom Committee, Writes the Scales on Cen

Protecting Intellectual Freedom at Guilford Public Schools

Paul Freeman, Superintendent of Schools, Guilford Public Schools

You will also have the opportunity to network with other school librarians and exchange ideas and best practices.

One of the highlights of the event will be the book talks by levels - elementary, middle, and high school. You will hear from fellow librarians about their favorite books and how they use them in their libraries. You will also have the chance to share your own book recommendations with your peers.

Registration is open. For just $35 for members and $65 for non-members, you get a full day of learning and of course, lunch and snacks. We encourage you to register early because we anticipate the event will fill up quickly. Don't miss this chance to learn, grow, and connect with your peers!
