Hi everyone! I realized I emailed the school library listserv without specifying right away that my study is focusing on public librarians. I figured that some of you still work at a public library or have worked at one at some point. Sorry for the confusion!

Subject: MLIS student: Thesis survey

Hello!

My name is Jessica Anderson and I am a graduate student in the Master of Library and Information Science program at Southern Connecticut State University. I am conducting a brief online survey for my thesis assignment. If possible, could you share the following with your librarians/staff. I would very much appreciate your time and insights!

This survey, hosted on Qualtrics, can be accessed through this link: Qualtrics Research Survey    Thank you so much to those of you who have completed the survey already!

Study Information

Participant Requirements: Connecticut public librarians/staff who are employed at a library that has completed or is in the process of conducting a diversity audit. *Diversity audit: analyzing the representation and inclusiveness of a library’s books and resources to make sure they include a wide range of stories, perspective, experiences, and identities.

Study Title: Adopting Critical Cataloging Practices Post-Diversity Audit: It's Your Community's Connection to Your Collection [IRB Protocol #1045]

This study focuses on public libraries that have conducted a diversity audit as well as those who have subsequently adopted critical cataloging practices in order to make their collection more inclusive and accessible.

This research specifically seeks insights from Connecticut public librarians who have been directly involved in conducting a diversity audit. Your experience and contributions are vital to gaining a deeper understanding of these practices and their impact on subsequent enhancement of OPAC metadata.

The questionnaire is designed to take approximately 5 minutes of your time. Your responses will remain anonymous, confidential and used solely for academic purposes. The survey will be available until 3/16/24 @ 10am.

Thank you very much for considering this request. I look forward to your participation and insights.

Warm regards,

Jessica Anderson (she/her/hers)
