I also made the change to block YouTube for students.
Staff still has access, students can still access videos that are embedded into google slides that staff create.
Students still have access to YouTube videos that staff attached to Google Classroom assignments or items (not just copied and pasted into instructions or documents)

These options meet the privacy requirements and also force staff to preview videos (not a bad thing) It also opens right in the slide or classroom platform which then avoids ads, popups, and auto play videos...

I am receiving many requests from teachers about alternatives to YouTube that might have subject-specific content and resources. We already have EdPuzzle as a possible workaround, but that isn’t helpful for independent research/projects.

If your district uses any video library resources that are not YouTube, I would love to hear about it!
