Good Morning CT Libraries, here is what is going on this week.

CLC HAPPENINGS

Two roundtables on Tuesday.  Eastern CT Library Directors will meet at Cragin Library.  Reader’s Advisory will be talking about world language collections on Zoom. 

The Library of Things Roundtable will meet on Wednesday.

AI Roundtable will meet on Thursday to talk about tools and resources.

Adult Programming Roundtable will meet on Friday to talk about trivia and game nights.   

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

eBooks

• No updates on HB 6958  or S.B. 1234.  Both have been voted out of committee.  Either one of them – or theoretically both of them – could advance to a full vote in either chamber. 

Freedom to Read

• No updates on SB 1271.  The new bill language still hasn’t been posted.   
• No news on HB 7014 and I don’t see an Education committee meeting on the calendar for this week.  That doesn’t mean it couldn’t pop up unexpectedly later in the week, though.

NEWS OF NOTE

As you likely saw over the weekend, on Saturday President Trump issued an executive order that reduces the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services to its ‘statutory functions.’   The EveryLibrary Institute broke down what that means in a post on Sunday.  Here is the State Library’s webpage on what the IMLS LSTA grants fund.  There are other institutions in Connecticut that also receive IMLS funds.  You can find a full list here.
