Good Morning CT Libraries, here is what is going on this week.
A NOTE ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER
You may have noticed that I’ve been playing around with the format of this newsletter for the last couple of weeks. Sometimes it’s coming out on the listservs, sometimes
directly from CLC, sometimes both. I’m at the point where I want to make a decision how to move forward.
I’d like to hear your feedback with this quick survey.
Which versions of the newsletter do you like best and what’s the best way to deliver this content to you?
CLC HAPPENINGS
Maker Roundtable
today at 10am in Wallingford to talk about summer programming + maker “show and tell”
Ever thought about being a roundtable chair? Ever thought, CLC should have a roundtable about (fill in the blank) ? Join us on Tuesday for a
Roundtable Chairing Info Session
and see what it’s all about. Chairing a roundtable looks great on your resume, helps connect you with folks across the State and provides an incredible service to our library community. Can’t make it tomorrow? We’ve got another one coming up on
Thursday, May 1.
New Directors Roundtable
meets on Wednesday.
On Thursday we’re having a Tonies roundtable/vendor call that we’re calling
All Things Tonies.
It’s a chance for you to chat with folks who circulate Tonies across the State plus talk to Drew, the Director of Education from Tonies. Oh, and we’re also going to give away a Tonies box to one lucky attendee.
Finally,
Academic Libraries: Research, Reference, & Instruction Roundtable
on Friday.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
It’s a big week in Hartford. On Friday, the Legislature will submit their version of the 2026-2027 budget.
As a reminder, earlier this year, the Governor released his proposed budget.
You can find it here.
It was mostly status quo for libraries.
Since then, the appropriations committee has been meeting with agency heads to understand their budgets, hearing from the public about what they think of the public,
and meeting to come up with their own version of the budget.
What will it say and will it be better news for libraries? I don’t know but here’s what
Senator Osten, Chair of the Appropriations committee had to say in an op-ed
about a month ago.
