Hi Jen--

Our Gale database usage is up by an average of 40% this year, but I've been actively working on it. I had teachers post flyers in their rooms with the respective QR code link to the database in their discipline, I've created multiple pathfinders to specific reference books and databases for specific projects, like curating a collection just for their assignment. I also promote Academic OneFile for all of our Senior Capstone papers (a required graded course at GMHS).

It definitely doesn't come naturally to students--they have to be LED to the databases over and over, especially in the age of ChatGPT and the rampant cheating we've seen lately!
I'm including the attachment flyer for the World History database--these come directly from Gale and I add a QR code in the corner.
I'm also linking an example of a pathfinder for a History class.

Hope this helps,
Casey

We've had a dramatic decrease in database usage this year. Our usage statistics are showing a pretty solid general decline despite our continued efforts to integrate stronger research skills into the core curriculum. To the high school librarians, are we unique or are you seeing this as well?
