Governor's Summer Reading Program

You may have noticed some changes to the Governor's Summer Reading Program this year! Allow us to explain.

The Governor's Summer Reading Challenge was created in 1996 and hosted by the CT State Department of Education. The challenge existed to encourage reading during the summer, gamifying the processes with competition among schools.

Recently the maintenance of Governor's Summer Reading Program has transferred to the CT State Library and we appreciate your patience and understand during this time of transition.

As we work to design a new program for future summers, the competition portion of this years program has been suspended and we're encouraging children and teens to read, visit their local public libraries, and learn through fun!

The Suggested Summer Reading list that was shared in February has transition to the Governor's Summer Reading Program and a reading log, game board, and Bingo board has been created to allow children and teens to track and enjoy their reading over the Summer.

More information will follow soon.
