We are genrefied in fiction. We have:
What you are describing as "general fiction" we would probably just put into "Realistic Fiction."

There's definitely mistakes. Sometimes I pick up a book out of Realistic Fiction and find out it has witches and magic in it. It's not a perfect system. We do what we can and fix mistakes as we find them.

Hi Everyone,
My high school library's fiction collection is genrefied. Currently, there is a realistic fiction section and a general fiction section. For those of you who have a genrefied collection, do you distinguish between the two sections, or do you just have a general fiction category? I've noticed my students rarely look at the general fiction collection, so I was hoping to move those into the other genre categories, but then books like The Art of Racing in the Rain or Circe don't seem to fit any category. I know there are many instances where there's no perfect fit, but I would love to hear your thoughts about the general fiction / realistic fiction categories.
Thank you!
