We don't give loaners.  If they forgot their computer they must have a pass and a purpose to come and use the library's computers.  If they did not charge, we will not loan a charger . We have them leave their computers in the LMC to charge and use our desktop while waiting.

We have 17 loaners available for students to borrow.  Last year we had many "repeat offenders" borrowing daily for not charging it for the day or forgetting it at home.  I worked on a plan with our Admins that students must turn in their cell phones to me while they borrow the loaner....and it has been a game changer!  We do not have nearly the amount of students borrowing daily.  **Last year this time we had loaned out 440 times...we are at 200 loaners total so far this year.

Now I've been trying to stick to a more strict rule of no loaners or chargers unless the IT Department has your device for repairs. If they left it at home, that is their responsibility.

Hey All,

We do loaner laptops in the library. We have 15 daily loaners for student use. If you're a school with loaners - who do you handle late students who don't have their laptop? We cut off students after 2nd period, but that's because they didn't come in earlier. But if a kid has an appointment, do you still lend them for the duration of school? Thanks.
