I have been encouraging my students to begin in our paid for databases pebble go/pebble go next and Britannica

Within Britannica it offers links to additional vetted websites.

This year I’m encouraging teachers to have students begin there to get started on their topics before heading into kiddle or the other Google based search engines.

I’m finding that with some classroom teachers for research projects curation is becoming a lost tool. I’m starting to think that even though of course we want student voice and choice starting with a curated list of topics and suggested articles and websites is something teachers might need to be encouraged to do. Rather than sending them straight to Google. Love the suggestion of using notebook lm for that Allison!

Hi Pia,
I steer my 3-5 students to PebbleGo Next.  If you are using Google Classroom, another alternative is to use their LM Notebook feature to create materials from links you curate.  That way, they will get the information in a digestible, ad-free form.  I tend to have it make mind maps and video overviews.  Have a nice week!

Good morning!

My school district is currently using Kiddle and Kidtopia for elementary school searching and is looking for feedback on more robust options that bring back solid resource results yet aren't cluttered with ads... thought this was the perfect time for a group question!

Any gems out there that you'd like to share?  I'd appreciate your reasoning as well... thank you!

:) pia
