Hi all,
Our secondary library team (2 middle schools and a high school) are focusing in on building our own knowledge regarding AI with the goal of becoming the leaders in our buildings when it comes to AI use, teaching, and ethics.
We would love to get some perspectives from other librarians who feel their programs or districts have clear direction, guidance, expectations, etc regarding AI implementation. Right now, we feel that as a whole, our district is more in the "check out all the cool stuff it can do!" phase, but we would like to dig deeper and be able to share meaningful information with our communities.
For example, we are wondering if anyone in their buildings or districts have:
- Clear philosophy statements regarding AI
- Student expectations regarding appropriate and ethical AI use
- Use guidelines for students and/or teachers
- Specific PD/learning that has taken place beyond the basic functions like lesson plans, email generation, etc. Ways we can use it meaningfully and ethically with students.
- or anything else along these lines that you have found helpful
We really appreciate any information that you'd be willing to share!
Have a great weekend,
Nicole, Gisela, and Brian
